Getting Started with CARMA
How do I analyze a car listing?
Copy the URL of any vehicle listing from AutoScout24, Mobile.de, Marktplaats, or Otomoto. Paste it into the search bar on the CARMA homepage and click "Analyze." Within seconds, you'll see a deal score, fair market price, and ranked list of comparable vehicles from across Europe.
Which car marketplaces does CARMA support?
CARMA currently compares car prices across four major European marketplaces: AutoScout24 (18 European countries), Mobile.de (Germany), Marktplaats (Netherlands), and Otomoto (Poland). We're working on adding more platforms.
Is CARMA free to use?
Yes. You can create a free account and start analyzing car listings immediately. There's no credit card required. Free accounts include unlimited vehicle comparisons, deal scoring, price history tracking, and price drop alerts.
Which countries does CARMA cover?
CARMA covers used car listings across Europe, with the strongest coverage in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Austria. Because we aggregate from pan-European platforms like AutoScout24, you'll also find listings from Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, and other EU markets.
Price Analysis & Deal Scoring
How does the deal score work?
Every listing you analyze receives a score from 0 to 100 based on how its price compares to similar vehicles across our supported marketplaces. A score above 80 indicates a great deal — the car is priced well below comparable listings. A score below 40 means the listing is priced above market average. The score factors in make, model, year, mileage, trim, and transmission when finding comparable vehicles.
What does "fair market price" mean?
The fair market price is a live estimate of what a specific vehicle should cost based on what comparable cars are actually listed for right now across European marketplaces. Unlike traditional book values (e.g., Schwacke or KBB), CARMA's fair market price reflects current real-world asking prices, not historical averages.
How many comparable vehicles does CARMA find?
The number of comparables varies by how common the vehicle is. Popular models like the BMW 3 Series or Tesla Model 3 typically return 20–50+ comparables. Rarer vehicles (limited editions, niche models) may return fewer. Each comparable is scored for similarity based on model year, mileage, spec, and condition.
Can I compare car prices across different countries?
Yes — this is one of CARMA's core strengths. When you analyze a listing, CARMA searches for comparable vehicles across all supported marketplaces regardless of country. This means a car listed in Germany will be compared against similar cars in the Netherlands, Poland, and other European markets, giving you a true cross-border price perspective.
How accurate is the price analysis?
CARMA's model is trained on millions of vehicle listings and reflects live market data. Accuracy depends on the number of comparable vehicles available — common models produce highly accurate estimates, while very rare or heavily modified vehicles may have fewer data points. The analysis is always based on current asking prices, not outdated valuations.
Price Drop Alerts
How do I set up a price drop alert?
Go to the Alerts page from the navigation menu. You can set an alert for a specific listing URL you're watching, or for a model search (e.g., "BMW 3 Series, 2021–2023, under 50,000 km"). Choose your target price or select "any price drop" to be notified of all reductions.
How quickly will I be notified of a price drop?
CARMA monitors prices continuously across all supported marketplaces. When a price drop is detected, you'll receive an email alert typically within a few hours. Each alert includes the vehicle details, old price, new price, amount saved, and a direct link to the listing.
Can I set alerts for cars in specific countries only?
Yes. When creating an alert, you can filter by country so you only receive notifications for markets you're willing to buy in.
Do alerts work for new listings too?
Yes. If you set a model-level alert with a target price, CARMA will notify you when a new listing appears that matches your criteria and is at or below your price threshold — not just when existing listings drop in price.
